Recently, Affidavit has become more actual compared to the application we are familiar with. This is due to harmonization of the requirements for documents at the international level, resulting in increasing number of authorities that begin to request it in most countries.
What is Affidavit in simple terms and who has the right to authenticate it in Ukraine? Affidavit is a written application, statement, certificate given by a person before a notary, with subsequent attestation of a signature of that person on such a document by a notary.
In support of the facts, originals or notarized copies of related documents are often filed to affidavits.
Practically in each cases, prepared Affidavit will be needed in the language of the country this document is intended for. There are 2 options:
- Affidavit is immediately prepared double-columned in two languages (Ukrainian and required foreign).
- The prepared Affidavit is translated into the required language, and the notary certifies the authenticity of the signature of the person who made the translation.
Documents required to prepare an Affidavit:
- passport and TIN,
- documents confirming the facts set forth in Affidavit (desirable but not essential).
